Orange offers a professional and personal proofreading and
copyediting service.
" An eye for an i..."
I proofread and copyedit with meticulous attention to detail and fact-checking,
to help your writing find its true voice, uncluttered by the distraction of spelling
errors and awkward grammatical constructions.
I polish your professional image
for you, by ensuring that no misspelt words or grammatical errors detract from
the professional presentation of your writing.
How I work
I usually work electronically by email, so can work with clients anywhere in the world. If a phone conversation is necessary to go over a complex project, I use Skype for international phone calls.
What you need to do!
You email me with your writing attached as a Microsoft Word document or if it is very long, a sample few pages with a note of the total
number of pages.
You tell me the level of work you require – just proofreading for spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors – or copyediting with constructive and thoughtful input on improving sentence structure, flow and overall coherence and fact-checking of everything from links to names and quotes, as well as the proofreading.
Give me the following information
- Your deadline
- Information that will help me understand your writing and the readership you’re writing for
- The intended publishing medium – website, newsletter, magazine, book, e-book
- US or UK English required as the standard
If you would like me to work on copy for an existing website,
please include the url of your website.
I will confirm receipt, check details with you and give an estimated fee.
On receipt of your initial payment I will start
work.

Testimonials
Thanks Kit. You really helped get our website together, when time was of the
essence. Great suggestions for improving the flow of the site copy. Good job!
Patrick - Liquid Lime Studios
“Kit has an eye for detail, not only in the literal and grammatical context, but with an eye toward everything necessary to make the copy successful, including context and consistency of voice. When she’s finished with the copy, it’s as close to perfection as you’re going to get.”
Denise Hummel, Director, Imagine Communications
Kit Heathcock regularly assisted me with the production of the annual school
magazine.
Her main task was proof reading. She also produced
a prospectus for the school with the briefing that it was to be different from
the usual school prospectus. This, not easy job, she performed excellently. I
can recommend her thorough approach.
